Just a few days ago I talked to my brother in Illinois and he was on his way to join a gym. A day or so later I talked to another friend in Chicago and he was going in to join a gym as well. Tis the season, but how do we make sure we stay committed to the goals we set at the beginning of the year. They are certainly good intentions and we all know the importance of staying in shape and losing weight, but that takes work. We are the fattest country in the world and as some point I think we are OK with that. That is pitiful if you ask me.
The fact is we have so many choices to help us get healthy it’s ridiculous. In the complex our school is located there is a full gym, our school and the diving training facility. All in the same complex. We should all be at full capacity but we are not.

There Is No Excuse
We have a new student that only has one lung. Seriously. He is an older gentlemen that realizes he needs to stay active and make sure he stays healthy. He goes at his own pace and we make sure he is OK and when he needs to take a break he does. When he feels he can participate he does. You can do the same thing but here is the catch. You have to keep coming and get into a routine that allows you to learn the skills and get in the shape it takes to actually throw some punches for 30 seconds.
Make this a year you actually make some promises to yourself and follow through with them for a consistent period of time, like the rest of your life. We can make a change in our society one person at a time.
