Total Boxing started with Joe Powers. Joe developed his passion for teaching after studying 3 different martial arts, but later finding his love in Muay Thai. However if you were to ask him, he would humbly tell you that he was never a great athlete. Joe has a natural talent for finding a fighter’s weaknesses and turning them into strengths. He believes that “great boxers are not necessarily great teachers.” It’s one thing to throw a perfect punch, it’s quite another to be able to perfectly teach that to others.
Joe began teaching over 14 years ago, giving private lessons to aspiring fighters. In his seventies, he still hasn’t lost a step and seems much younger than he truly is. Even though he is serious about his work, he is not looking for fame; only the reward of helping others find the pleasure in practicing Muay Thai, that he has found in teaching it. A veritable mountain of knowledge, many of the instructors started out as students under him.
Patrick Webb is the #2 Advanced Amateur Muay Thai competitor in the state of Georgia. In his thirties, you can find him constantly at the gym training for his next fight – sparring and fighting with opponents almost always younger than him. A true Muay Thai martial artist, he is committed to making the name Total Boxing synonymous with winning. Patient, yet motivating; supportive, yet firm, Patrick’s students can attest to his special style of teaching – encouraging them to push past what they think their limits are.
With a background in Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, and Personal Fitness, Patrick is the man to know at Total Boxing. Available for personal training sessions and morning boot camp classes, you can find him most days at the gym.
A great teacher, and a thorough student at the same time. Kyle started out with us as one of the more committed students of the gym. From early on, he showed a knack for being able to understand, break down, and thoroughly explain a technique in terms that everyone can understand. A stickler for good technique, he constantly pushes students to improve their punches, strikes, and strategies each time and build off past successes.
With previous experience in Tae Kwon Do, Karate, Judo, and Capoeira, Kyle always tries to add something fresh into each class.
